EAA Chapter 87 Minutes of Meeting Dated April 12, 2011

The April meeting was held at the old Bowdoin School. President Charlie Gabelmann called the meeting to order at 1930.
1. SECRETARIES REPORT
The March meeting minutes were accepted as posted on the Chapter web site.
2. TREASURER’S REPORT
Tom Muller reported that the balance at the end of March was $5,306.16, with 46 members in the chapter.
Tom advised that we have an invoice from Spider Web for hosting the chapter web site for the past 2 years. It was agreed the payment would be made after we switch the web site.
The original check issued to pay for the use of the old Bowdoin School has not been cash and is reported as missing. Tom will issue a replacement check.
Charlie Gabelmann presented an EAA National award to Richard Wood for work in 2010.
4. Web Site
Dj Merrill will create password access to the new web site for key personnel, to allow them to make necessary changes. Richard DeVito will meet with Dj to learn the process of editing information. Dj will post chapter photos on the new web site. Photos should be sent as a jpeg file to Dj via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org
5. Meeting site
Dj will make an informal contact with Flight Level Aviation at Brunswick Landing to ascertain if EAA 87 could meet at their facility.
6. Brunswick Landing – June 4 Fly In
There will be a meeting on April 9 at Brunswick Landing to discuss arrangements for the June Brunswick Fly In. Advertisement for the event will be done over a 500 mile radius.
All airworthy aircraft may be entered for judging with registration from 9 to 11, and judging from 11 to 1. The following categories will be set up:
- Experimental – Plan built
- Experimental Kit built
- Vintage – Older than 1960
- Sport – non commercial built.
The event is open to the public, and a pancake breakfast will be available from 8 to 10. Several prominent people will speak in the morning.
A Chapter House will be set up to house finished and unfinished experimental aircraft. The area will also serve as a meeting point, and Tom Muller will coordinate this activity. Tom is looking for volunteers from the chapter to help with this effort.
7. ACE Camp
Cost for the camp this year totals $550. Leo Leclair confirmed that the father of the candidate that we will sponsor has agreed to pay $100 of the cost. The chapter will pay the full $550 to the Ace Camp organizers, and $100 of that amount is for the organizer’s use as they see fit.
Leo Leclair confirmed that the batteries for the chapter scales will not hold a charge. Leo was authorized to spend up to $60 to buy a replacement battery
The meeting was adjourned at 2130
The May meeting will be held on Tuesday May 10 at the new Brunswick Executive Airport (KBXM) at 1930 hours.
From the North
Get on I-295 South towards Brunswick.
Take exit 31A to merge onto ME-196 E/Lewiston Rd toward Topsham/Brunswick
From the South
Get on I-295 North towards Brunswick.
Take exit 31 for ME-196 E toward Topsham/Brunswick.
From the West:
Get on ME-196 East.
Once on ME-196 E near the I-295 intersection (near the Topsham Mall):
Stay on 196 East for about 2.5 miles, then merge onto RT 1 North (on the left).
In approximately 2 miles, take the Cooks Corner exit (This is the first exit after you get onto RT 1).
Turn right onto ME-24 N/Bath Rd.
Go to the second traffic light and turn left onto the ex-Navy Base property. You will see a large airplane (P-2) on display on your left after you make the turn.
You will need to stop at the gate house and show your drivers license. If they ask, tell them you are going to FlightLevel aviation.
Go approximately 0.8 miles and when you see the second large airplane (P-3), turn right just before it. The plane is just beyond where you will be turning and it is on the left side of the road.
Continue straight ahead and the road will take you around the far side of Hangar 6.
Go in the door near the Flightlevel Aviation sign.
