5. ACE CAMP

The chapter discussed sponsoring an ACE CAMP participant again this year. Richard DeVito proposed Austin Magliozzi as a candidate. He is a high school sophomore with a keen interest in Aviation and has participated in the Young Eagles program. His older brother Brendon is currently in a Connecticut aviation school and working in his instrument and commercial ratings. His father is a pilot with American Airlines. Members unanimously passed a motion to sponsor Austin for the Bangor camp for $795.00. The remaining $100.00 charge will be paid by Austin’s parents.

Russell Keith reported that Tom Muller has completed a portion on the fuselage on his Zenith STOL aircraft. He expects to build the remaining sections a bit faster due to the learning curve. Tom is also selling his RV-9A and has someone interested in the plane.

Dave Beemer indicated he has successfully passed a class III medical and felt it was much easier than trying to conform to the new Basic Med program.

The meeting was adjourned at 2000.
