EAA Chapter 87 Minutes of Meeting Dated January 8, 2013 Submitted by Richard DeVito – Secretary
The January meeting was held at Brunswick Executive Airport. President Charlie Gabelmann called the meeting to order at 1930.
1. SECRETARIES REPORT
Richard DeVito read the report of the November 2012 meeting, and it was accepted as read.
2. TREASURER’S REPORT
Tom Muller reported that the bank balance on 12/31/12 was $7550.87. He also stated that the chapter currently has 46 members. The report was accepted as submitted
Tom requested approval to purchase ink cartridges for his printer to defray costs for printing chapter papers. The request was approved by the members.
3. EAA NATIONAL
Charlie Gabelmann read a letter from EAA National that listed the programs and accomplishments noted during 2012.
4. 2012 CHAPTER SERVICE AWARDS
Charlie Gabelmann distributed the 2012 Chapter Service Awards to the officers of the chapter.
5. BRUNSWICK FLY IN MEETING
It was felt we might combine a fly in with a Young Eagles/Eagles event. Dave Peppel stated he could do a question/answer seminar of some sort. Charlie Gabelmann noted that there would be a meeting in hangar 6 on January 12 at 1000 hours to discuss the feasibility of an EAA 87 conducted Fly In at Brunswick.
6. 2013 PROGRAMS
Scott Royal stated he could do a program on dynamic balancing of propellers at the April meeting. Scott said that he had done Phil Shelton’s Tundra and with marked results. Tom Muller volunteered his RV-9A.
The July meeting with be a BBQ cookout at Lewiston Auburn airport at either Tom Muller’s or Leo Leclair’s hangar.
Mark Hayden will again host his annual Fly In in August at Emmett field in Monmouth.
Leo Leclair advised that BIW has accomplished the heaviest lift ever this past month. They used four cranes to hoist the deck house for a new destroyer at a 900 ton weight.
Tom Muller stated that Morris’s Comanche 250 has not sold to date, and is currently offered at $35,000. The family plans to reduce the price each month until it sells. Any help from the membership would be much appreciated.
8. FEBRUARY MEETING
The meeting for February will be in conjunction with the Aviation Forum scheduled for 23 Feb at Owls Head Museum. Those planning to have lunch should let Charlie know as we have to provide a count to the organizers. The members agreed to have our chapter provide coffee for the event.
The March meeting will be held at Brunswick Executive Airport on March 12, 2013 at 1930 hours.
