EAA Chapter 87 Minutes of Meeting Dated January 10, 2017 Submitted by Richard DeVito – Secretary The January meeting was held at Brunswick Executive Airport. President Charlie Gabelmann called the meeting to order at 1908 hours.
He reported that Bob Bailey who had planned a presentation for this evening has come down with the flu. We will reschedule for March.
1. SECRETARIES REPORT
The Secretaries report was not read since it was previously published on the chapter web site. It was accepted as published.
2. TREASURER’S REPORT
Tom Muller reported that the bank balance on 12/31/16 was $6,073.88. We currently have 9 members who have prepaid 2017 dues. The report was accepted as submitted.
3. OLD BUSINESS
Charlie Gabelmann presented an EAA National 2016 award to Scott Royal for his role as Tech Counselor to the Chapter.
Discussions were held regarding a Chapter Banner and it was noted that Leo Leclair has chapter approval to procure a banner that can be used at any event.
MRRA is planning a 2017 air show on Aug 26 and 27. It will feature the Blue Angels and will be held every other year going forward.

Chapter 87 will provide coffee for the Aviation Forum on Feb 18.
The FAA has published Advisory Circular AC 68-1 outlining procedures for class III medical reform. It goes into effect on May 1, 2017.
Charlie Gabelmann reported he is still awaiting a FAA decision on his medical.
Dj Merrill reported he is working on the brake system and a cleanup for his floats. He also needs a wheel axis spacer.
Tom Muller reported that with a lot of help, he has stored the wings for his Zenith 750 in his garage and wants to begin working on the fuselage. He is also working on seat covers for his Rans RV-9A.
Don Card reported he has mounted the wings for his Zenith Cruzer and is working on the doors. He plans to work on the windshield next. He has his current Zenith 750 up for sale, and must sell that plane to purchase an engine for the Cruzer.
Russell Keith showed a Dynon display that he plans to use as a backup for IFR flights. It requires a GPS input and costs just under $1,000.
The meeting was adjourned at 2020.
We will not hold our monthly meeting in Brunswick. Our February meeting will be held at the Feb 18 Aviation Seminar at the Owl’s Head Transportation Museum. Registration begins at 0930 hrs.
