EAA Chapter 87 Minutes of Meeting Dated June 12, 2012 Submitted by Richard DeVito – Secretary

The June meeting was held at Phil Shelton’s barn in Georgetown. President Charlie Gabelmann called the meeting to order at 1910.

Reading of the Secretaries report was waived.

Tom Muller reported on financial activities for March, April, and May. Account balance on 5/31/12 was $6,135.77. The report was approved as submitted.

Charlie reported that the Norridgewock EAA chapter would be moving operations to Pittsfield, and they will be having their annual Fly In there on July 21, 2012.

There was some discussion on a date for a Chapter 87 Young Eagles event. Wiscasset is one of the sites considered, and Tom Muller suggested we hold the event in conjunction with the Texas Flying Legends performance Aug 11, 12. The Oct Wiscasset open house dates were also of interest. Steve Williams will try to get an opinion from the Wiscasset show organizers on a concurrent Young Eagles program.

The July meeting will be held at Tom Muller’s hangar on July 10 at 1830 hours, and will be a meeting/BBQ.

On August 18, Mark Hayden will host his annual Fly In/Drive In at Emmett Field - 86 Old Lewiston Rd in Monmouth.

The meeting was adjourned at 1955 and members had a briefing and look at Phil Shelton’s Dream Aircraft Tundra project.

The July meeting will be held on July 10 at the Tom Muller’s hangar at the Lewiston-Auburn Airport (LEW). We will also have a chapter cook out in conjunction with the meeting with a planned start time of 1830 hours. Directions follow:

If you are traveling from Bowdoinham or the coastal areas, take 196 into Lewiston and take the Maine Turnpike (toll free) south to Auburn. Exiting the turnpike, turn right and head SW on 202/26/100/4 (all the same road). Take a right at the first light just after the Irving truck stop onto Kittyhawk Drive. Travel to the four corner stop sign intersection and turn right onto Hotel Road. On Hotel road, take the first left onto White Hangar Drive. Mountain Machine Company is at the entrance to the airport. You can park outside the gate and walk in. The walk in gate is not locked. This area is dimly lit. Walk to the left of the white hangar and you will see yellow t-hangars on the front side of the white hangar. Tom’s hangar is in the second row of yellow T-hangars.
