EAA Chapter 87 Minutes of Meeting Dated March , 2011 submitted by Richard DeVito - Secretary
The March meeting was held at the old Bowdoin School. President Charlie Gabelmann called the meeting to order at 1930.
1. SECRETARIES REPORT
Charlie Gabelmann noted that the Aviation Forum report of Duke Tomlin dated Feb 21 would cover Chapter 87 activities for February, and requested the secretary publish the minutes on the chapter website.
2. TREASURER’S REPORT
Tom Muller reported that the balance at the end of February was $5,055.34, with 46 members in the chapter.
Tom advised that we have an invoice from Spider Web for hosting the chapter web site for the past 2 years. After much discussion Tom made a motion to have DJ Merrill and Craig Starr investigate alternate hosting services. It was seconded by Everett Perkins and passed unanimously.
Charlie Gabelmann presented EAA National awards for work in 2010 to the following individuals:

4. OLD BUSINESS
Gary Bergendoff advised he would be unable to continue coordinating use of the Old Bowdoin School for Chapter meetings. The school is available to us, and Charlie will meet with facility representatives to discuss continued usage.
A Fly In will be held at the Brunswick Naval Air Station on June 4th, and it is open to the public. Craig Fuller, AOPA President is expected to attend, and a breakfast, lunch and BBQ will be available. On April 9, chapter representatives will meet with organizers of the fly in.
5. NEW BUSINESS
ACE Camp recruitment will start in April. The chapter is looking for a high school student to sponsor.
Jay Hewitt has joined the chapter to use our scales. He has a single place Pitts at Auburn airport.
Leo Leclair reported that the owner of a Bonanza has inquired about using the scales to weigh his aircraft, but the weight loading might be in excess of the scale capacity. He also stated that the batteries in the scale need replacement, and he would investigate requirements.
Everett Perkins has been appointed by EAA National as a Technical Counselor for Light Sport aircraft.
Chuck Kinser is working to paint his aircraft. DJ Merrill has attached flaps and ailerons to the wings on his Sportsman. Craig Starr is working on the wings for his Rans RV-9A Don Card is working on painting components of his CH 750 Mark Hayden reported that Tom Fisher has completed the FAA mandated fixes for his aircraft and has reassembled to wings.
The meeting was adjourned at 2055.
The April December meeting will be held on Tuesday April 12 at the old Bowdoin School commencing at 1700 hours. The school is located on 1201 S. Maine St. (Rte 125 in Bowdoin.
Directions to the school:
From the North, take I-295 south to exit 37 at Bowdoinham. Turn right at the exit and then take the first right onto 125 South. Continue about 1.8 miles to Rte 201. Cross Rte 201 and continue on Rte 125 for an additional 0.8 miles. The school is on the left. Look for a large white fence. If desired, you can take Rte 201 to Rte 125 rather than using I-295. There are flashing lights at the intersection of 201 and 125.
