EAA Chapter 87 Minutes of Meeting Dated May 10, 2016 Submitted by Richard DeVito – Secretary
The May meeting was held at Brunswick Executive Airport. President Charlie Gabelmann called the meeting to order at 1930.
1. SECRETARY’S REPORT
The May report was approved as submitted on the chapter web site.
2. TREASURER’S REPORT
The Treasurer reported an April 30, 2016 checkbook balance of $5,275.22 with 38 members. The report was approved as submitted. Tom also reported he had filed the form 990 with the IRS for the 2015 tax year.
3. OLD BUSINESS
Charlie Gabelmann reported that Bret Harlan from EAA national had stated that youth can attend chapter meetings without background checks for attending members. He suggested obtaining a letter from parents of the youth granting permission. The background checks for members would apply when youths attend outside activities.
There was some confusion on the date for the Hampton Fly In/Flea Market. We originally thought the date was May 14 and 15, but the website shows the date as May 21 and 22. Everett Perkins and Charlie Gabelmann have obtained a 0-200 engine core and an 85 HP core from The Owl’s Head Transportation Museum that they hope to sell at Hampton. This is part of the chapter fund raising programs, and we will retain 50% of the sale for our efforts.
Charlie reported that EAA Insurance is in place for the May 15 Young Eagles event. The 99’s will be giving rides to adults and Chapter 87 will give rides to the kids. A pancake breakfast will be available and Ace Camp will have a display.
4. NEW BUSINESS
Charlie reported that Tom Wallace has invited the chapter to visit and look at his Lancair project. Many members are interested in attending dependent on the location. Charlie will find out and let the chapter know.
Tom Muller reported that his wife Carlene was in an automobile accident and suffered broken ribs and a hematoma. The car was totaled. Tom suggested it would help if some of the wives that know Carlene contacted her.
Tom Muller reported he has started to work on getting his medical back.
Don Card reported he has completed the rear fuselage of his Zenith Cruzer. He is waiting warmer weather to begin priming. He has had his existing STOL plane for sale on Barnstormers with no serious offers as yet. Many planes sell quite cheaply, and Don has dropped his asking price by $5,000.
The meeting was adjourned at 2045.
The June meeting will be held on Tuesday June 14 at the Brunswick Executive Airport FBO commencing at 1930 hours.
