EAA Chapter 87

Minutes of Meeting Dated November 9, 2010

The November meeting was held at the old Bowdoin School. President Charlie Gabelmann called the meeting to order at 1925.

1. SECRETARIES REPORT

Russell Keith made a motion to defer the reading of the October Secretaries report and to accept it as submitted on the chapter web site. The motion was seconded by Tom Muller and passed unanimously

2. TREASURER’S REPORT

Tom Muller reported that the bank balance on 10/31/10 was $5,244.54. He also stated that the chapter currently has 44 members. Gary Bergendoff made a motion to accept the report as submitted. The motion was seconded by Russell Keith and passed unanimously.

3. ELECTION OF OFFICERS

Chapter members nominated and elected the following individuals as Officers for 2010:

4. DECEMBER MEETING AND CHRISTMAS PARTY

Members confirmed that we will hold the December meeting and Christmas party on Saturday December 4 at the old Bowdoin School.

5. GENERAL

Charlie Gabelmann reported that Dave Peppel from the FAA will attend the January meeting. The meeting will be an open forum to address issues of interest to chapter members.

Charlie Gabelmann stated that Maine Aviation would have a Cessna 162 Skycatcher at Wiscasset at noon on Saturday Nov 13.

Leo Leclair reported that Peter Tranchell had joined the chapter to use our scales to weigh his RV-7A. Leo stated that workmanship on the plane was outstanding.

Civilians are now allowed on the Brunswick Naval Air with a proper ID.

Gary Bergendoff agreed to investigate continued used of the Old Bowdoin School for 2011 meetings.

Gary Bergendoff made a motion at 2055 to adjourn the meeting. Craig Starr seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.

6. PROGRAM

Russell Keith demonstrated a programmable solid state controller for engine preheats. The system modulates the engine pre heater to maintain the engine compartment at a defined pre set temperature. Part costs total about $50.

DECEMBER MEETING

The December meeting will consist of the annual Chapter Christmas Party, and will be Pot Luck. Presents will not be exchanged. All members along with wives and significant others are encouraged to attend. The party will be held on Saturday December 4 at the old Bowdoin School commencing at 1730 hours. The school is located on 1201 S. Maine St. (Rte 125). Entrance to the party is at the rear of the building.

The Chapter will provide plates, glasses, cups, napkins, soft drinks, etc. Alcohol is allowed but members must bring their own drinks. Please bring a salad, main dish, or dessert that will serve six.

Directions to the school:

From the North, take I-295 south to exit 37 at Bowdoinham. Turn right at the exit and then take the first right onto 125 South. Continue about 1.8 miles to Rte 201. Cross Rte 201 and continue on Rte 125 for an additional 0.8 miles. The school is on the left. Look for a large white fence. If desired, you can take Rte 201 to Rte 125 rather than using I-295. There are flashing lights at the intersection of 201 and 125.
