EAA Chapter 87 Minutes of Meeting Dated November 13, 2012 Submitted by Richard DeVito – Secretary

The November meeting was held at Brunswick Executive Airport. President Charlie Gabelmann called the meeting to order at 1930.

1. PHIL SHELTON VIDEO

Phil presented a video summary of his Dreams Aircraft Tundra project. Photos included early construction stages through the completed project. Videos included initial water taxi tests, first flight off the water, and the first hard surface landing. Phil stated that a crack was noted on one blade of the prop at 5 flight hours but that has since been repaired, and the plane has accumulated 7 hours to date. The plane was in hangar 6 so members had a chance to look at the finished product. We were all impressed.

2. SECRETARIES REPORT

The Secretaries report was not read since it was previously published on the chapter web site.

3. TREASURER’S REPORT

Tom Muller reported that the bank balance on 10/31/12 was $6,294.30. He also stated that the chapter currently has 47 members. The report was accepted as submitted

4. VOTE OF 2013 OF OFFICERS

There were two nominations for the position of Vice President, with a single nomination for all others. The position of Vice President was won by Dj Merrill based on a majority vote. Chapter members voted for the following individuals as Officers for 2013:

5. BRUNSWICK FLY IN

Charlie Gabelmann stated he would talk with Suzanne on an EAA87 sponsored fly in, and will talk to EAA national on insurance. We will discuss this again in January.

6. DECEMBER MEETING AND CHRISTMAS PARTY

The December meeting and Christmas party will be held on Saturday December 8 at Brunswick Executive Airport. The party will be a pot luck with the chapter providing soft drinks and chips. We will meet at 1730.

7. PROJECTS

Don Carr has completed most of the painting on his Zenair CH-750. He had decided to use a light weight continental O-200 to power the aircraft..

Craig Starr has sold his Vans RV-8 kit to a New York buyer. Craig has learned that the kit was destroyed in flooding caused by hurricane Sandy.

Mark Hayden is working on the vertical stabilizer on his Vans RV 9.

DECEMBER MEETING

The December meeting will consist of the annual Chapter Christmas Party, and will be Pot Luck. Presents will not be exchanged. All members along with wives and significant others are encouraged to attend. The party will be held on Saturday December 8 in hangar 6 at Brunswick Executive Airport (KBXM) commencing at 1730 hours.

The Chapter will provide plates, glasses, cups, napkins, soft drinks, etc. Alcohol is allowed but members must bring their own drinks. Please bring a salad, main dish, or dessert that will serve six.

KBXM is the former site of the Brunswick Naval Air Station (BNAS). From the main entrance, proceed past the large airplane (P-2) on display on your left. Go approximately 0.8 miles, and when you see the second large airplane (P-3), turn right just before it. The plane is just beyond where you will be turning and it is on the left side of the road.

Continue straight ahead and the road will take you around the far side of Hangar 6. Go in the door near the Flight level Aviation sign.
