EAA Chapter 87 Minutes of Meeting Dated October 14, 2014 Submitted by Richard DeVito – Secretary
The October meeting was held at Brunswick Executive Airport. President Charlie Gabelmann called the meeting to order at 1930.
1. SECRETARIES REPORT
The Secretaries report was not read since it was previously published on the chapter web site. It was accepted as published.
2. TREASURER’S REPORT
Tom Muller reported that the bank balance on 9/30/14 was $5,457.09. The report was accepted as submitted
3. EAA87 50th YEAR
Charlie Gabelmann confirmed that we will meet at the Olive Garden on Oct 23rd at 6 PM to honor Grady Sharpe as a founding member of the chapter. Charlie has a 7” X 9” plaque with the EAA87 logo recognizing Grady as a founding member, and a smaller plaque for Frances Bisson, a charter member. Costs for the plaques totaled 137.04.

5. OLD BUSINESS
Christmas Party - Members agreed to have the annual Christmas pot luck on Dec 6th at Brunswick Executive Airport. The exact location has not been finalized.
6. NEW BUSINESS
Safety Seminar – John Wood of the FAA will conduct a safety seminar at 6 PM on Oct 21st at the terminal building at Brunswick Executive Airport. The seminar will cover operations at uncontrolled fields.
Charlie Gabelmann reported that John Wood wants to do another safety seminar with EAA 87 possibly in December of January. With our December meeting scheduled at our annual Christmas party, reaction was mixed. Most members responded they could do either December or January. Charlie will talk to John Wood and set a date.
Tom Muller attended the AOPA homecoming in Fredrick Maryland. He reported it was quite different from EAA shows, and was impressed with the AOPA upper managers. They are at the forefront of efforts to eliminate the class III medical, and the development of an alternative to 100 octane aviation fuel.
Jerry Crute reported he has installed two clear windows in the rear of his 172 to aid in aerial photography.
The meeting was adjourned at 2130
The November meeting will be held at the terminal building at Brunswick Executive Airport on Tuesday the 11th at 7:30 PM. We will be voting on the slate of officers for the chapter in 2015.
