EAA Chapter 87
Minutes of Meeting Dated September , 2010
Submitted by Richard DeVito - Secretary
The September meeting was held at Leo Leclair’s garage. President Charlie Gabelmann called the Meeting to order at 1920 with a quorum of Board Members in attendance.
1. TREASURERS REPORT
Tom Muller reported a bank balance on 8/31/10 at $4,122.70. We have a total of 41 members with an additional 2 unpaid to date. Leo Leclair made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report and Everett Perkins seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
2. YOUNG EAGLES
Everett Perkins confirmed that we would have a Young Eagles event at Wiscasset on October 2nd, and passed out flyers announcing the event. Most members present took a supply of flyers to post in their local area. Everett plans to send an e-mail to the members requesting pilots and ground crew for the event.
Charlie Gabelmann announced that the chapter has received a check for $1,000 from State Farm Insurance. State Farm has previously given money to the chapter in support of our aviation programs, and their generosity has allowed the chapter to sponsor youths for ACE Camp outings. Charlie and all the members thank State Farm for their contributions.
There was some discussion on 100 LL replacement fuel. There are several fuels being studied as a 100 LL replacement. It appears that the use of 94 octane unleaded may present problems for higher performance aircraft.
Sanford Airport will be closed for about 1 week due to construction on the field. It should re-open in early October.
Everett Perkins made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Leo Leclair seconded. The motion passed unanimously, and the meeting was adjourned at 1950
The program for the evening was a show and tell review of DJ Merrill’s Sportsman 2 +2. The aircraft is a 4-place version of the Glastar. DJ plans to configure the plane with 2 seats only, and will use the rear area for cargo. This will also allow DJ to sleep in the back of the plane. Dj has had the project for 5 years, and moving has delayed completion.
