EAA Chapter 87 Minutes of Meeting Dated March 11, 2014 Submitted by Richard DeVito – Secretary

The March meeting was held at Brunswick Executive Airport. President Charlie Gabelmann called the meeting to order at 1930.


The February meeting consisted of the Aviation Forum at Owl’s Head Transportation Museum, therefore no report was generated.


Tom Muller reported that the bank balance on 02/28/14 was $6409.99 with 35 members in the chapter. The report was accepted as submitted.


Charlie Gabelmann reported that the proposed trip to the Bradley Air Museum in Windsor Locks, CT would not take place due to limited interest by chapter members

An FAA Safety seminar and chili cook off will be held on March 15th at Wiscasset.

The Fly in proposed for June 21st was discussed and some of the main items follow:

We need to finalize the location for the Fly In . In Brunswick, Hangar 6 is no longer available. MRRA and FBO moving to old tower.

We will have a Young Eagles program.

Craig Starr will most probably lead aircraft judging.

Concessions must be self sufficient and we must levy a charge at Brunswick.

We need to check with Richard Hornbeck on any liability to the chapter if we charge.

At the April meeting, we will schedule a meeting for the Fly In.


There will be an FAA Expo on April 12 at Nashua. On line registration is available.


Don Card has received his airworthiness certificate for his CH 750. Don made application is October. Bridget Roy and Dave Peppel conducted the inspection. Don needs a biennial and transition training. Dual instruction will be done at the factory in Missouri.

Tom Wallace is building a Lancair. He has joined the chapter and will attend meetings after April. He also plans to weigh the airplane.

6. General

Scott Royal reported he is now legal to fly his Luscombe solo.

Jerry Crute reported an unauthorized entry to his hangar at Wiscasset. Keys to the aircraft were found in the ignition and on, and a battery charger was missing.

Tempest has taken over half of hangar 6. MRRA and the FBO will be moving to the old tower building. Facility renovations are expected to be completed by the end of March. Future Chapter meeting will most likely be held in the old tower building.

The meeting was adjourned at 2030.


The April meeting will be held on Tuesday April 8 at Brunswick Executive Airport (KBMEX) commencing at 1930 hours. Exact location will be posted on the chapter web site when known.
